Nurse Practitioner Supervisor - Holland, MI

Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Clinical Health Services Manager, supervises the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical public health services to Ottawa County Residents in the Sexual Health Clinic. Participates in the development and implementation of protocols and monitors productivity of clinic staff and assures adherence to public health standards as determined by the federal and state requirements. Responsible for medical management of health conditions including prescribing and dispensing medications. Performs health assessment, teaching, counseling, direct care, referral and case management to prevent, treat and control diseases or adverse health conditions and promote optimal health in individuals with limited access to quality health care. Provides consultation services to other clinic staff. Coordinates with other agencies to provide comprehensive health services. This is a full-time, benefited position based at the Public Health Department in the James Street Campus in Holland, MI. The position will work Monday thru Friday, either 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. No weekend, on-call or late evening hours, which offers our Nurse Practitioner Supervisor a great work/life balance! There will be some travel to other county locations in Grand Haven and Hudsonville. Individuals in this classification supervise services to clients in a variety of locations throughout the county are responsible for providing their own transportation, but are reimbursed for mileage at the IRS rate.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops clinical protocols and implements policies and procedures to ensure that clients receive the health services for which they are eligible in compliance with federal Title X Standards and Guidelines, including state and county requirements.
  • Manages and provides direct client care, developing and implementing individual treatment plans; prescribes/dispenses medications; provides appropriate referrals and ensures education, counseling and case management follow-up with other medical and community agencies.
  • Participates in hiring, training, work assignments, evaluates staff work performance, conducts annual performance reviews, and participates in the disciplinary process for subordinate staff in accordance with policy.
  • Collaborates with a variety of community health partners, hospital-based health services, nursing education programs, health and human services programs, and community organizations to develop, educate and deliver public health services.
  • Collects and analyzes program data to evaluate clinic services and to provide continuous quality improvement to meet the needs of the clients in a customer focused manner.
  • Prepares and submits reports in accordance with federal, state and county requirements.
  • Ensures accurate documentation in the client electronic medical record (EMR) and that confidentiality of client information is maintained.
  • Participates in drafting the annual operating budget requests and identifies funding opportunities to support new and continuing clinical health initiatives.
  • May perform any and all functions of the Nurse Practitioner classification as required to provide quality health care to clinic clients.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned.

Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university and Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner and eighteen months of progressively responsible and demonstrably successful experience in clinical practice.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Possession of valid State of Michigan licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.

Additional Requirements and Information:

The qualified candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Thorough working knowledge of advanced practice of nursing.
  • Advanced knowledge of human systems, including wellness/illness, growth and development, basic nutrition, behavioral, psychosocial and family systems.
  • Thorough working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Advanced knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics.
  • Thorough working knowledge of diagnostic testing and interpretation of results and clinical decision-making.
  • Good working knowledge of managerial and supervisory principles and practices including quality assurance and improvement.
  • Good working knowledge of local, state and federal health codes, statutes, rules and regulations, including: Title V, X, HIPAA, Michigan Public Health Code (PA 368 of 1978, as amended), Michigan Communicable Disease Rules, and MDHHS accreditation requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of budget preparation, implementation and ongoing cost analysis to establish fees and billing procedures.
  • Knowledge and the ability to interact positively with patients, co-workers, health care and human service practitioners and community representatives from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and with varying levels of interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Thorough working knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements governing the confidentiality of patient health information, including the provisions of HIPAA.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including, but not limited to, visual and/or audiological appliances, and devices to increase mobility.
  • Work is generally performed in a normal office environment.
  • Delivery of nursing care to client patients may entail exposure to a variety of disease vectors and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Battle Creek, MI

Job Summary:

The Children’s Hospital at Bronson is actively seeking a full-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Experience with newborns desired as this position will be covering a Level One newborn nursery located at Bronson Battle Creek in Battle Creek, Michigan. Responsibilities include attendance at high risk deliveries, newborn stabilization and assessment, daily rounding and management of stable newborns; as well as coordination and preparation of newborn for transfer to NICU when necessary. Shifts will include days, nights, weekend and holiday rotations. All shifts are in house. APN’s work autonomously in the 12 LDRP unit with the corresponding nursery facility with trained Nursery RNs, setting and directing plans of care for newborns.

APN must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of MI with a Masters Degree in Nursing and certified and licensed as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of MI. Maintenance of CPR and NRP are also required. Position offers a competitive wage with annual CNE allowance and an excellent benefit package.
